- Document preparation:
- Assist in drafting and proofreading legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and memos.
- Legal research:
- Conduct preliminary legal research and summarize findings for attorney / paralegal review.
- Case management:
- Organize and maintain physical and digital case files, prepare exhibits for meetings, and track deadlines.
- Administrative support:
- File legal documents with courts and administrative agencies and help with general case preparation.
- Client and witness communication:
- Communicate with attorneys, internal teams, and vendors to gather information.
- Confidentiality:
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to legal protocols.
- Other duties as assigned
- Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
- Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required; intentions of attending law school.
- Customarily has 0-2 years of relevant experience. Must be willing to make a two-year commitment
- Strong research and analytical skills: Ability to conduct thorough research and critically analyze legal texts. Familiarity with legal citation: Knowledge of legal citation formats, such as the Bluebook, is a plus.
- Proficiency with legal databases: Experience with platforms like Westlaw and LexisNexis is often required.
- Excellent writing and communication skills: Capable of writing clear, professional legal documents and communicating findings effectively. Attention to detail: A high level of accuracy is critical for legal work. Time management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
