The CBHC Behavior Health Clinician I, using evidence-based practices, you will provide outpatient therapeutic interventions. He or she is part of a comprehensive team of clinicians, bachelor level counselors, recovery coaches, peers and much more, who provide a full range of services for people experiencing mental health or co-occurring disorders and/ or behavioral health concerns.

About the model: The CBHC is a new Executive Office of Health and Human Services provider type. The CBHC includes adult and youth mobile crisis services (MCI), crisis stabilization (CCS), outpatient therapies (individual, family group), and psychopharmacology including medication assisted treatments. The CBHC is designed to support individuals and families in the community, reduce use of emergency rooms for behavioral health crisis, increase flexibility of service delivery through bundled payments, provide seamless access to outpatient, urgent and crisis interventions, psychopharmacology, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and increased use of social supports and community-based staff.

  • Provides strength-based, recovery oriented direct therapeutic interventions to clients, in person, in the community and/or by telehealth, to clients, using evidenced-based practices.
  • Performs patient and family-centered clinical assessments and evaluations and engage the client and family in the treatment planning process.
  • Collaborates with the MCI and CCS CBHC teams: Participate in clinical huddles, treatment planning, referrals, case reviews and other mechanisms to ensure care is coordinated.
  • Maintains an appropriate caseload of clients, with a frequency of interventions, that supports the client’s specific needs as reflected in the treatment plan.
  • Integrates use of peers and recovery coaches into the treatment plan.
  • Collaborates with care coordination teams including Community Partners, including inclusion into treatment planning and goals.
  • Ensures recordkeeping/documentation is in accordance with internal and external requirements and regulations.
  • Serves on the Multidisciplinary Team and participate in regular Quality Improvement and Utilization Review activities to drive process improvements and enhance quality of care.
  • Coordinates treatment and care with other providers, including for example, primary care, medical specialists, or other programs like day treatment.
  • Works as liaison between Vinfen programs, state agencies, funding sources, and community referral sources.
  • Participates in educational trainings, seminars, grand and clinical rounds.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and contracted payor requirements.
  • Provide services to children, adults, families, and/or groups.
  • Provides after-hours on-call coverage in rotation with other program staff.
  • Travels within MA to various locations, as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Familiar with behavioral health, substance/addiction disorders and psychiatric conditions
  • Skilled in the provision of brief treatment and crisis interventions
  • Practices cultural humility in the care of individuals and families.
  • Experienced in use of evidenced based practices
  • Experienced in use of formal and informal assessment practices
  • Knowledge of and understanding of participatory planning techniques
  • Experienced in use of crisis intervention techniques
  • Familiar with managed care practices and medical necessity criteria
  • Experienced in use of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
  • Knowledge of human, legal, civil rights, and other resources
  • Knowledge of available community resources and alternative levels of care
  • Knowledge and use of different communication styles
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experienced with telehealth technologies
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of Code of Ethics
  • Proven ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity

Qualifications

Typical Requirements:

Minimum of two years of clinical experience in an outpatient or similar behavioral health (mental health or substance use) setting. Bilingual/bicultural applicants are encouraged to apply.

Preferred /Required Education

A Master’s degree in appropriate clinical field is required.

Driving Requirements

Driving is not required.

Physical Effort

Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer.

Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time as needed.

Ability to bend, reach, file, sit, stand and move around the facility.

Ability to speak, hear and communicate with clients, staff and external representatives.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth

perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Required Certifications

First Aid required within two weeks of hire

CPR required within two weeks of hire

CPSS required

Required Credentials/Licenses

LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LADC I, or LMFT in Massachusetts. CANS certified preferred.

Pay Range

USD $71,870.00 - USD $78,470.00 /Yr.
