Position Summary:
Are you a retired educator, former teacher, or young professional who loves working with kids and believes in the power of meaningful enrichment? We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and organized individuals to join us as After School and Summer Team Captains!
In this leadership-support hybrid role, you’ll help ensure our enrichment programs run smoothly—supporting instructors, managing day-to-day logistics, and serving as a key connection between VAC and our school or camp partners.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage daily operations at assigned enrichment sites
- Support instructors by providing materials, guidance, and day-to-day assistance
- Step in as a substitute instructor when needed
- Serve as the on-site representative for VAC, maintaining strong communication with partner staff and VAC leadership
- Proactively address minor issues with professionalism and care
- Assist with classroom management and ensure VAC policies are followed
- Help cultivate a fun, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all
Who You Are:
- A retired or former teacher, youth program leader, or aspiring educator
- Experienced in working with children, especially in educational or enrichment settings
- Organized, dependable, and great at multitasking
- Passionate about helping children grow and learn through creativity and collaboration
- A clear communicator and natural problem-solver
- Available during summer weekdays and/or after-school hours
- Have reliable transportation to travel to your assigned site(s)
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Classroom, camp, or tutoring experience
- Familiarity with enrichment or extracurricular programs
- Experience working with schools, community centers, or rec departments
- Basic tech skills (email, Google Drive, etc.)
Schedule & Compensation:
- After School: Available weekdays between 3:30–5:00 PM. Compensation: $90 per class (Class times are 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM).
- Summer Program: On-site from 8:45 AM–12:30 PM, Monday–Friday, June 16 – August 22. Compensation: $35.00 an hour.
Requirements:
- Background in education, childcare, or youth-focused programs
- Understanding of elementary or early childhood development
- Strong interpersonal skills and a love for working with kids
- A team-player mindset with a passion for supporting creative, hands-on learning
