Principal Duties
- Monitor the collection system, including surveying and repairing manholes, clearing obstructions, and operating heavy equipment for sewer maintenance. Collect mapping data for underground utilities, clean and flush utility lines, and maintain applicable tools and equipment.
- Inspect, operate, test, and maintain various water and wastewater pumping equipment, facilities, pipe systems, chemical feed systems, telemetry systems, and equipment associated with wastewater collections and culinary water delivery.
- Maintain, operate, and attend to pressurized irrigation systems, including pumps, wells, valves, and ponds.
- Perform all sampling, monitoring, and testing required to comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Read, install, and repair components of the City's water distribution and wastewater collection system. Deliver shut-off notices and turn water services off/on as needed.
- Perform daily checks of the water and wastewater systems.
- Snow removal and other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
- Motivated and willing to work independently and as a team.
- Available on a rotating basis for on-call duty within City-established response timeframes. On-call time will be compensated in accordance with FLSA and City policy.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment as well as light equipment and vehicles.
- Valid Class D Utah Driver's License required.
- 1 or more years' experience working on a municipal wastewater collections system preferred.
- State Wastewater Collections Operator and other industry-related certifications preferred.
- State of Utah Water System Operator and other industry-related certifications preferred.
- Backflow tester or cross-connection control program administrator preferred.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks including walking, bending, kneeling, entering confined spaces, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Employees must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
