We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department with professionalism, strong clinical oversight, and a commitment to regulatory compliance.
Position Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the facility, including staff leadership, regulatory readiness, care planning, infection control, and quality assurance. The DON ensures that residents receive the highest standard of care while supporting and mentoring the nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to RNs, LVNs, CNAs, ADON, and DSD.
- Oversee daily nursing operations and ensure adherence to Title 22, CMS regulations, and facility policies.
- Lead survey preparedness and ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Oversee interdisciplinary care planning, comprehensive assessments, and accurate documentation.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, staff competencies, and employee development.
- Direct QA/QAPI activities and implement performance improvement initiatives.
- Review incidents, falls, wounds, medication administration, and infection control logs.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, therapy, social services, and administrative leadership.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
- Promote a safe, professional, and engaged work environment.
Qualifications
- Active California RN license (required).
- Minimum 2 years of nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (ADON or DON preferred).
- Strong understanding of Title 22, CMS F-Tags, infection control standards, and SNF clinical practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workflow, and ensure compliance.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- EMR experience (PointClickCare preferred, but not required).
Preferred Experience
- Previous DON or ADON experience in a California SNF.
- Infection Preventionist (IP) certification or willingness to complete training.
