Job Summary

Job Summary: Special Education Aide II assists students with special needs under the direction of a certificated teacher. Aide supports teachers with the needs of students with disabilities. Assist the teacher in daily educational activities, assist with physical needs of students. To support student academic and social goals in the classroom, communicate with parents/guardians and school staff, ensure student safety, accompany student/s while transporting students to and from school. Required Qualifications: 1. California high school diploma Must provide proof of education (i.e. high school diploma, GED) 2. Associates Degree/Associate’s Science (i.e. college transcripts, copy of college diploma) or 48 or more College Units, or passage of the Paraprofessional Test. 3. Previous experience working with children with disabilities is desirable. 4. Ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. 5. Experience and desire to work with children in oral and written expression 6. Ability and willingness to understand and follow directions 7. Ability to work with adults and children and to respect confidential matters 8. Audio-visual and teacher aide education courses desirable 9. Ability to follow direction s and work effectively as part of a team 10. Bilingual ability may be required, depending on assignment 11. Must possess a valid First Aid Card, CPR Certificate 12. Certification of completion of full 20 hour CPI Training within the first 120 days of employment and maintain current certification. 13. Experience with medical equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, feeding tubes, diapers, translation tools, catheters, tracheal tubes, and hygiene products could be needed. 14. Must be able to lift and carry (50) lbs. 15. Perform other related duties as assigned (see Job Description)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Final employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements and Governing Board approval. These requirements may include fingerprint clearance through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and, when applicable, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), verification of eligibility to work in the United States, and possession of a valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance when required by the position. Employees must also provide verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and complete the training annually thereafter, in accordance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Additional requirements may be imposed as required by law, Board policy, administrative regulation, or applicable collective bargaining agreements. RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Vineland School District reserves the right to extend or reopen recruitment time lines, repost or cancel positions, and establish applicant pools for current and future vacancies within the same classification. Applicants who meet minimum qualifications, including successful completion of required testing, may remain active in the applicant pool during the recruitment period. Only candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be contacted, and applicants will not receive individual notifications regarding their application status. A probationary employee who has been employed by the District for six (6) months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer, shall be classified as a permanent employee in accordance with law. During the probationary period, employees shall receive performance evaluations from their supervisor assessing their work performance, ability, and compatibility with the position. The District may release a probationary employee at any time during the probationary period without cause. A permanent employee who is promoted to a new classification shall serve a probationary period in the new position, and if the employee does not successfully complete the probationary period, they shall be returned to their previous classification.
