The Housekeeping Supervisor provides support to the Director of Rooms and manages the daily operation and team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trains, manages, develops and motivates the housekeeping staff- Maintains all employee such as recognition, training, proactive employee relations, performance appraisals, time and attendance, and safety. Establishes proper staffing levels to ensure effective scheduling in alignment with the forecast, measures and tracks all service, performance and productivity standards
- Ensures opening and closing procedures are in place and adhered to
- Assists with ordering, payroll, and scheduling in the Director’s absence
- Ensures proper inventories and controls are in place with established par levels and budget
- Partner with the Director of rooms to implement new SOP procedures for effectiveness of the department.
- Partner with the Director of rooms on all employee relations and performance management tasks.
- Maintains proper established standards via inspections and walkthroughs
- Maintains proper defect/discrepancies reporting
- Trains and oversees employee compliance with OSHA standards regarding proper usage and dilution of chemical products equipment safety and usage, as well as blood-borne pathogen precautions and procedures
- Maintains established guest satisfaction scores and shares with the team
- Maintains laundry operations to The Aster LA standards and adhering to all safety regulations
- Maintains positive public relations and pleasant attitude with guests and employees
- Maintains complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation
- Maintains a positive, cooperative relationship with all other departments.
- Maintains constant communication with Front Office, Engineering and Sales Departments to ensure hotel areas are prepared and presentable

REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Secondary school degree preferred and/or previous work experience in service for at least 2 years.
SKILLS
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in verbal and written English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding
- Prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution
- Have superb time management skills
- Knowledge and understanding of The Aster’s Culture & initiatives
- Technologically sound with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of safety initiatives in compliance with OSHA guidelines
- Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests
- Ability to acknowledge guests’ requests in a polite manner
- Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged)
- Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sit, walk, and stand continuously
- Lift / carry 25 lbs (frequently) and 50 lbs (occasionally)
- Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level
- Use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height and moving machinery
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
