We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function for our established land development and homebuilding company. This role oversees a team responsible for payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger operations, while partnering with colleagues across the organization to enhance the quality of our financial data, reporting, and processes.

Essential Functions and Duties

1. Lead, mentor, and develop Accounts Payable team members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and vendor communications.
2. Partner with departments across the organization to facilitate the accurate and efficient flow of financial information, ensuring accounting requirements are understood and met while providing responsive support to internal stakeholders.
3. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance, and support accurate financial reporting.
4. Coordinate the annual reviewed financial statement process, including preparing and reviewing client-prepared schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to external accountant requests.
5. Manage all business licensing requirements, including applications, renewals, compliance tracking, and maintaining records for multiple entities and jurisdictions.
6. Conduct annual performance evaluations and compensation reviews for direct reports, providing ongoing coaching, goal setting, and professional development opportunities.
7. Oversee cash management activities, including monitoring cash flow, processing deposits, managing banking relationships, and reviewing monthly bank reconciliations.
8. Manage property tax and excise tax filings, payments, and reporting requirements, while ensuring the timely preparation and distribution of annual Form 1099s.
9. Monitor and track Homeowners Association (HOA) expenses, ensuring accurate accounting, budgeting, and reporting for applicable projects and communities.
10. Lead the month-end close process, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
11. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, reconciliations, and maintenance of fixed asset records.
12. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the quality and accuracy of financial data and reporting.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Three or more years of leadership or people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Four or more years of accounting experience within the construction, land development, homebuilding industry, or similar experience.
• Knowledge of construction accounting concepts, including work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and job cost accounting.
• Experience with Sage 100 Contractor software or similar construction accounting systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting department and will provide mentorship to enhance job growth, efficiencies, and performance. This position will conduct the annual performance evaluations.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The role is based at Company headquarters in Lynnwood, Washington, and is fully in-office. The office is open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering flexibility in daily work schedules based on individual needs, team priorities, and business requirements.
This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers, printers, photocopiers/scanners, filing cabinets, etc.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing or similar tasks are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Position requires sitting for long periods; manual dexterity to be able to write, type and use a keyboard or 10-key proficiently; ability to lift items up to 25 pounds; ability to clearly communicate by telephone, email and in person; ability to use a computer and other electronic equipment.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 annually
In addition, employee will be eligible for an annual Company profit bonus.
