Company Overview:
As a Entry-Level Drafter/ CAD Technician on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, you will assist the CAD Manager with various duties such as to involve the issuance of methods drawings as per the set standards and QHSE Policies to be used in the HRBT Expansion Project.
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45 diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.
Principle Accountability and Responsibility:
- Prepares means and methods drawings on the construction methods, sequence of works, temporary works, formwork definition as well as lifting operations and logistic issues, including scaffolding and accesses
- Ensure that all the Requirements from Partners and any parties are met and that no objections can be provided to the permanent construction
- Ensure that the drawings are developed using the workflows set in the CADD Manual
- Ensure that those drawings are compliant with the required standards by using designated softwares (AutoCAD, 2D, 3D and Autodesk Civil 3D)
- Work closely with other departments and engineers
- Integrate quality and safety measurements and prevent any risks in the execution methods and sequence drawings
- Report about the progress of the design development
- Circulate the drawings to the design or construction team for their further review and upon review, integrate the received comments through issuance of reviewed drawings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience as Draftsman in the construction industry and in infrastructure works, preferably on large infrastructure projects
- AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D software experience is required
- Expertise on Formwork, Work Sequences and Construction Methods drawings
Strongly Encouraged:
- Previous experience in North America is a plus
