Role Description The Real Estate Paralegal will support attorneys with all aspects of real estate transactions in a full-time, on-site role based in Staten Island, NY. Daily responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and organizing legal documents such as contracts, closing documents, leases, and correspondence. The paralegal will assist with title reviews, coordinate with title companies, lenders, brokers, and clients, and help resolve routine issues related to closings. Duties also include managing due diligence checklists, tracking key dates, maintaining case files, and updating matter status in the firm’s systems. The role involves preparing closing binders, collecting and verifying required documentation, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactional records. The paralegal will interact regularly with clients and third parties in a professional manner, supporting attorneys to ensure timely and efficient closings.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting and organizing real estate contracts, closing documents, and related correspondence.
- Experience conducting Due Diligence for real estate transactions, including reviewing property information, coordinating searches, and tracking required documents.
- Knowledge of Title Insurance processes, including working with title companies, reviewing title reports, and assisting with clearance of title issues.
- Familiarity with Leases and Commercial Real Estate matters, including reviewing, summarizing, and preparing lease-related documents.
- 1–3 years of experience as a real estate paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm or in-house legal setting preferred.
- Paralegal certificate or relevant associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with standard office software and legal document management tools; ability to learn firm-specific systems quickly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
