What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Care Systems Specialist position at Village Pet Care?
Be the Systems Partner Our Pet Resorts Count On!
At Village Pet Care, our pet resorts are focused on creating safe, welcoming experiences for pets and the people who love them. Behind those experiences are the systems that help our teams manage reservations, daycare, boarding, grooming, training, payments, packages, memberships, and the countless details that keep a busy pet care center running smoothly.
We’re looking for a Pet Care Systems Specialist to serve as a trusted systems partner to our General Managers and operating teams across our growing portfolio of pet resorts.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, working directly with people, and making technology easier to use. You’ll help ensure our Point-of-Sale (POS) and operating systems are configured accurately, functioning reliably, and supporting the way our centers work every day.
While you'll need to be comfortable digging into systems, data, configurations, and troubleshooting, this isn't a traditional behind-the-scenes IT role. You'll spend significant time partnering with our resort leaders, helping them solve real operational challenges and translating technical issues into clear, practical solutions.
What You’ll Do
As our Pet Care Systems Specialist, you’ll become a go-to resource for our pet resorts and Support Services teams. You will:
- Serve as a frontline systems support partner for General Managers and center leadership across our portfolio.
- Troubleshoot POS issues including invoicing discrepancies, package usage, payment failures, permissions, and configuration challenges.
- Configure and maintain services, pricing, packages, memberships, deposits, taxes, and operational workflows.
- Help protect the accuracy and integrity of client, pet, and transaction data through audits, cleanup, and validation.
- Support POS conversions, implementations, and system updates from preparation through onsite go-live.
- Train and coach General Managers and other center leaders on POS workflows, system capabilities, and best practices.
- Partner across Operations, Finance, HR, Marketing, and Data & Digital to ensure our systems support consistent operational and financial standards.
- Work directly with POS vendors and merchant service partners to troubleshoot technical and payment-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, simplify workflows, and create greater consistency across our growing network of pet care centers.
Requirements:
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines systems expertise with a service mindset. You’ll be well positioned for success if you have:
- Experience within pet care is required as is your ability to understand how systems impact the people using them and the customers and pets they serve.
- Hands-on experience administering POS or operational systems, ideally within a multi-location organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the patience to work through complex system or data issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and follow-through.
- The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and comfortably to non-technical users.
- Strong relationship-building skills and an appreciation for supporting busy operational leaders.
- The flexibility and adaptability to succeed in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Experience with Gingr, MoeGo, or similar pet care, service, hospitality, or multi-unit operating platforms strongly preferred.
Travel & Work Environment
- This is a remote-based Support Services position with significant travel, approximately 60–75%.
- Travel will typically occur Monday through Thursday and may include multi-day onsite assignments during POS conversions, implementations, and go-live weeks. Because our pet resorts operate in a dynamic environment, some schedule flexibility will be necessary to support our teams when they need us most.
- When working remotely, you’ll collaborate regularly with resort leadership, Support Services teams, and external partners. Village Pet Care operates in a remote-first home office environment where virtual meetings are an important part of how we stay connected. Team members are expected to be camera-ready and participate with cameras on during scheduled meetings and discussions.
- The role also requires frequent computer and phone use and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working with systems or conducting training.
Why Village Pet Care?
Village Pet Care is a growing family of pet care businesses united by a shared commitment to pets, their people, and the teams who care for them. Growth creates opportunity and it also creates complexity. This role will play an important part in helping our pet resorts operate with greater consistency, confidence, and efficiency as we continue to grow. If you enjoy solving problems, supporting people, improving systems, and seeing the impact of your work firsthand, we’d love to hear from you.
