Job Overview
We are a well established, family owned pawn business with over 40 years in the community, seeking a motivated and reliable pawn broker/ sales associate to our team.
This role involves working directly with customers, evaluating merchandise, issuing loans, and driving retail sales in a fast paced enviorment.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with pawn loans, buys, and retail purchases.
- Evaluate items such as gold, jewelry, electronics, tools, and luxury goods
- Evaluate and appraise pawn items accurately, ensuring fair and transparent transactions
- Manage POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales, purchases, and cash handling with precision
- Conduct product demos to educate customers about merchandise features and benefits
- Assist in merchandising efforts, including stocking shelves and organizing displays to attract shoppers
- Upsell products and services to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining integrity
- Maintain proper phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Perform basic math calculations for transactions, inventory management, and pricing adjustments
- Handle cash register operations efficiently, ensuring accurate cash handling and balancing registers at shift end
Requirements
- Previous retail sales experience preferred (pawn experience is a PLUS)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer bases
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership qualities are highly valued
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and retail math techniques
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to create positive interactions
- Basic math skills for daily transactions and inventory management
- Knowledge of product demos, upselling techniques, and retail sales strategies
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
