Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional to join our team. The Village Clerk is a full-time administrative professional responsible for maintaining official municipal records, supporting Village Board operations, administering elections, and serving as a key point of contact for residents.
This role ensures compliance with Wisconsin statutes and local ordinances while promoting transparency, efficiency, and excellent public service. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in data entry & analysis, and the ability to multitask. This individual must be capable of executing all roles and duties set forth in local ordinances and state statues related to the office of the Village Clerk.
Recordkeeping:
- Maintaining and organizing all official village documents, including ordinances, resolutions, contracts, correspondence, and meeting minutes.
- Ensuring proper storage and retrieval of records in accordance with retention policies.
- Providing public access to records as per open records laws.
Elections Administration:
- Overseeing the planning and execution of all village elections, including voter registration, ballot preparation, and poll worker management
- Certifying election results
Village Board Support:
- Preparing agendas and distributing materials for village board meetings.
- Attend Village Board and committee meetings; record and maintain official proceedings and minutes
- Distributing Village Board resolutions and ordinances.
Licensing and Permits:
- Issuing and tracking various licenses and permits, including liquor, operator, cigarette, and dog licenses
Public Interaction:
- Provide customer service for phone calls and walk-in residents at the counter for receipt of various payments and general questions including connecting the resident to the appropriate village department for further assistance and developing a strong, high-level working knowledge of Village operations
Additional Tasks:
- Manage and execute quarterly utility billing
- Assist with social media and website content creation
- Supervise front desk representatives
- Serve as the deputy treasurer
Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to analyze local ordinances and state statute and apply understanding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success in process improvement development and implementation
- Capable of grasping new concepts and applying them quickly and effectively
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft office tools, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Knowledge of local government procedures and laws
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary: $58,000–$65,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
Position Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation: The position is assigned to the Village's compensation/Grade & Step plan with opportunities for future salary progression based on performance, experience, and internal equity.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
Associate's Degree (AA/AS) in one of the following:
- Public Administration
- Business Administration
- Office Administration
- Accounting
- Finance
- Communications
- Legal Studies
- Political Science
Bachelor's Degree (BS or BA) Preferred
Equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible municipal experience may be substituted
