What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Maintenance Worker position at Village of Winfield?
The Village of Winfield is accepting applications for the position of Seasonal Maintenance Worker in the Public Works department. Positions will run from early May to mid-August 2026.
Seasonal Maintenance Workers assist Public Works Crews with street, storm drainage, utility systems maintenance and water/sewer facilities repair. This is a full-time seasonal position, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The job requires significant physical activity, including repeatedly lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds, as well as stooping, crawling, crouching, climbing, and using heavy power tools in various outdoor weather conditions. No prior experience is required.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire and possess the equivalent of a High School diploma, preferably with vocational coursework. Previous experience in Public Works or related experience is preferred. A valid Illinois Class D driver’s license is required. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical proficiency test.
The starting pay is $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. This position does not include formal benefits; however in accordance with the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act, employees earn 1 hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked.
