What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer - Full Time position at Village of Walton Hills?
The Village of Walton Hills is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. To be considered for the position you must already be OPOTA certified and complete the required application. The Walton Hills Police Department expects its employees to be people of integrity, good character and high moral standards. Therefore, we are very selective with our police officer candidates.
The applicant must be of good character and physically, mentally, emotionally and medically capable of performing the duties of the position.
Prior to appointment applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph investigation, psychological examination, physical examination, oral interviews and drug screen. All newly hired employees will be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
Salary and benefits are set and stated in the current collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Village and the Fraternal Order of Police and the Village ordinances. Benefits include Healthcare (15% employee contribution as set by Ord. 242.15), dental and vision coverage, group life insurance, uniform allowance, longevity beginning after 5 full-time years of service, proficiency bonus, paid vacation, holidays, personal days and sick leave.
Current salary of $82,534.40; uniform allowance of $1300; Professional Proficiency Premium of $650; and maximum accumulation of 400 hours of comp time. The CBA provides for wage increases of 4% in 2026.
The Walton Hills Police Department is a member of the South East Area Law Enforcement community (SEALE). Specialized teams include SWAT, Bomb, CIT, MPU and AIU.
