Duties
- Maintain and repair city streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, mowers and tractors.
- Perform routine inspections of public facilities and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Help manage water and wastewater systems, including line maintenance and system monitoring.
- Assist in snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, and other emergency response operations.
- Support the planning and execution of capital improvement projects and infrastructure upgrades.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of maintenance work and equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Respond to citizen inquires and service requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with other outside contractors as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating machinery.
- Experience with utility locating using specialized tools or technology.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites.
- Ability to read blueprints or technical diagrams is a plus.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not required.
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in public works projects is highly desirable.
