The Village of Orland Park’s Public Works Department is seeking a Streets Supervisor for the Streets Division to plan, direct and supervise the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the Village-owned roadways and related appurtenances. The work involves the performance of duties of considerable difficulty and is reviewed for progress and conformance to established standards by the Streets Division Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
This highly responsible position will serve as snow commander during the winter months and share this task with another Supervisor. The position will track and record all snow data to include salt usage for Illinois EPA. This position is responsible for supervising all employees in the Streets Division. Plans, schedules and distributes daily work assignments and work orders in Tyler EAM for customer service requests; works with other divisions, departments and agencies to provide job related training, including but not limited to safety training; participates in employee hiring, evaluation, discipline and maintain confidential information. In addition, this position is responsible for issuance of equipment and material necessary to perform division work. Coordinates work with other divisions as well as inspects and approves the work of contractors and completes other projects as assigned and communicates Village policies to residents and customers. Approves invoices related to material purchases and contractor support for appropriate lines of accounting. This position also plans and supervises the maintenance and improvement of the Village-owned roadway systems including asphalt and pothole patching, sign maintenance, concrete repair, streetlight repair, street sweeping, banners, holiday lights on streetlights, pressure washing, PCMS board placement, barriers, illegal sign pickup, illegal dumping, dead animal pickup, maintain spoils site, pavement marking, parkway restorations, trip hazard mitigation including replacement and grinding, and police camera support.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent along with 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a related Public Works environment. College level course work and/or degree in management, engineering or related field is strongly preferred as well as previous supervisory experience. Prior snow command experience is highly preferred. This position also requires a Class “A” CDL Illinois Driver’s license with air brake, trailer, and tanker endorsements. Hours: Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m.– 2:30 p.m., must be available for callouts and duty week coverage. Must be available during winter months for snow command operations.
Compensation & Benefits
The Village of Orland Park offers a competitive market total rewards package that includes a base salary range between $79,278.00 and $110,987.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
