Job Description: Village Treasurer
The Village Treasurer is a dedicated and detail-oriented individual that oversees the
public cash operations of the village. The Village Treasurer ensures accurate and up-to-
date financial records, supports the financial health and development of the community
and provides information to the residents of the village.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Maintains accurate financial records, including accounts
receivable and bank reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial reports, ensuring transparency and clarity for the Village Council.
- Utility Billings: Oversees the utility billing process; including generating bills,
ensuring accuracy, and managing payments.
- Record-Keeping & Auditing: Maintains and stores all relevant financial documents
and assist in the preparation for an audit.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures adherence to financial regulations, policies and
procedures at all times, and reports any issues of non-compliance to the Village
Council.
- Budget Preparation & Monitoring: Assists in the preparation and monitoring of
the village's annual budget, ensuring that expenditures are in line with the
approved budget.
- Collaboration: Works closely with other departments to support financial
planning, decision-making, and ensuring smooth communication and collaboration
across all areas of village operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: An Associate’s Degree in Business or 3 years of relevant business
experience required. Additional education in accounting, finance, or a related field
is preferred.
- Experience: Customer Service with Cash Handling Skills required. Experience
working in a municipal or governmental setting is preferred.
Skills:
- Critical thinking skills and a proactive self-manager.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Excel and other MS Office Suite products.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external
customers.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18,000.00 - $20,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
