Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Public Works Worker to support the maintenance and operation of municipal infrastructure. This role involves outdoor work across various public facilities, including streets, parks, and buildings. This position plays a vital role in highway maintenance, snowplowing, janitorial duties, and park upkeep, contributing to the safety and cleanliness of our community.
Duties
- Perform highway maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, signage installation, and general roadway upkeep.
- Conduct snowplowing of streets and parking lots during winter months to ensure safe travel conditions.
- Maintain parks by landscaping, trash removal, and general groundskeeping activities.
- Assist with janitorial and building maintenance tasks to keep public facilities clean and functional.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely for various maintenance projects.
- Follow all safety protocols diligently to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues during outdoor work activities.
- Work flexible schedules including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed to meet community needs.
Skills
- Prior outdoor work experience is essential, particularly in highway maintenance, snowplowing, park maintenance, or building upkeep.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to outdoor maintenance work.
