The Montgomery Police Department is accepting applications for Lateral Transfer positions within the department.
The Village of Montgomery is a growing community quietly nestled along both banks of the Fox River in Kane and Kendall counties in Illinois, just south of Aurora and about forty miles west of Chicago.
The Montgomery Police Department is made up of 35 sworn officers who provide protection and policing services to nearly 22,000 residents and businesses within the Village limits. Our department strives hard each day to provide exceptional public service, demonstrate community pride, and maintain public safety throughout our community.
Transfers are eligible for a starting salary of up to $112,963, dependent upon prior years of experience. Lateral candidates shall be considered entry-level employees in all other ways. Patrol officers work 12 hour shifts which provide them with a three-day weekend every other week. Montgomery Police officers also receive annual sick and vacation leave time, Holiday pay, personal days, and medical and dental insurance beginning day one of employment. - Must be currently employed for at least two (2) years as a full-time (non-probationary) Illinois certified law enforcement officer.
- Applicants must be in good standing with your department as of the date of application as well as the date of certification by the Commission.
- Applicants must be at least 23 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Part-time certification does NOT meet this requirement.
- All lateral transfer entry process candidates must provide documentation to show that they are currently employed as a full-time certified Peace Officer in the State of Illinois for at least two (2) years.
- Applicants must provide documentation that they have fulfilled the requirements of the Illinois Police Training Act.
