Summary
Responsible for monitoring Village parks, lake areas, and facilities to promote safe, appropriate use of Village property. Provides a visible presence during evenings and weekends, educates patrons on Village rules and facility policies, and reports misuse or safety concerns to supervisors and local law enforcement as needed. This position does not possess police authority.
This is a part-time, seasonal position with daytime, evening and weekend hours. Coverage will be shared among multiple employees, and schedules will be assigned accordingly.
Essential Functions
The following duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Monitor Village facilities include parks, athletic fields, lakes, and lake access areas during weeknights and weekends to ensure safe and appropriate use.
- Interpret and explain Village rules, regulations, facility use policies, and Lake Ordinances to patrons in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Observe and report park or lake misuse, safety concerns, vandalism, or ordinance violations to supervisors and local law enforcement as necessary.
- Verify rental permits, reservations, or authorized use of facilities and refer discrepancies to a supervisor.
- Respond to patron questions, concerns, and complaints and provide assistances or direction as appropriate.
- Monitor weather conditions and advise patrons of inclement or unsafe conditions.
- Complete written incidents, maintenance, usage, and accident reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Observe equipment and facility conditions to ensure proper use and care, report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.
- Perform light custodial duties as needed, including picking up trash, sweeping, checking restroom cleanliness, and ensuring tables, chairs, benches, and picnic tables are orderly and serviceable.
- Utilize proper safety precautions and comply with all Department and Village safety policies, report hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide support or security presence for programs or special events as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Required
- High School graduate or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Experience in parks, recreation, facilities monitoring, security, or customer service
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe)
- Boat operating license (or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe)
