What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiscal Officer position at Village of Castalia?
The Village of Castalia is seeking a part-time Fiscal Officer
This role involves overseeing all aspects of financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess experience in accounting principles and procedures and skilled in Word, Excel, and email, while maintaining transparency. Experience in government accounting and the UAN (Uniform Accounting Network) accounting system is a plus. For suitable candidates with accounting backgrounds and no UAN experience, training will be provided with limited ongoing support available for at least 4 months.
The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and must be able to obtain a performance bond.
There are continuing educational requirements established by the Auditor of State’s Office and the Treasurer of State, which are reimbursed by the Village.
The Fiscal Officer attends, takes notes, and prepares minutes for each of the Village Council meetings. There are two Council meetings per month on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
Meetings are attended in person; however, some work may be completed remotely.
Position would also be responsible for leading bi-annual audits.
Rate of Pay would depend on the candidate’s qualifications and will be negotiated.
Must be able to pass a background check.
