The Village of Brookfield is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Public Works Management Analyst. The salary range for the position is $64,902 - $84,373. The Village provides a full complement of benefits including paid vacation, personal days, sick days, and 12 1/2 paid holidays. The Public Works Management Analyst is an exempt, non-union position who reports directly to the Director of Public Works.
The Public Works Management Analyst is an entry-level professional position that supports the Director of Public Works and management team of the Public Works Department by providing analytical, technical, and administrative assistance. This position assists with data collection analysis, process improvement, and the development of operational policies and procedures. This position also supports risk management activities, helps maintain and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and assists with reporting, budgeting, and project coordination. This position works closely with the Director of Public Works and the management team on various utilities, streets, facilities, forestry, parks and fleets initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day administrative support to the Director of Public Works and the department management team.
- Assists in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to departmental operations, service delivery, and resource allocation.
- Assists in preparing reports, presentations, and summaries.
- Assists in preparing the annual Public Works operating and capital improvement budgets, including gathering and organizing information.
- Assists in the review of administrative and operational processes.
- Assists in the development and periodic review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and departmental policies.
- Assists with various safety initiatives, training programs, and risk management activities including being an active participant on the department safety committee.
- Serves as the liaison with other Village departments to gather information and support operations
- Assists in tracking resident service requests and responses in the Village's service request app, SeeClickFix.
- Assists in the coordination of GIS related input and reporting.
- Conducts occassional field visits to Public Works facilities or project sites to better understand operations and workflows.
- Provides administrative support during emergency operations, severe weather events, or other critical Public Works activities as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in related field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of local government or related experience is preferred.
- A valid Illinois driver's license is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to collect, organize, and summarize data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with digital tools and programs such as basic GIS applications.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to interact effectively with different audiences through strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skill.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiples tasks and meet deadlines
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting with occasional field visits to Public Works facilities or project sites.
- Occasional evening meetings or support during operational events or emergencies may be required.
- Must have the physical ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must have the physical ability to reach items with arms and hands with manual dexterity and fine motor skills sufficient to perform all essential and peripheral job functions.
- Must have the physical ability to hear ordinary conversations such as questions from employees, residents, or visitors, as well as other sounds, such as telephone ringing, etc.
- May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
