Water-Wastewater Operator Job Posting
The Village of Bloomfield Utility is accepting applications for the position of Water-Wastewater Operator.
The Water-Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for process control, including troubleshooting, monitoring and operation of the water and wastewater treatment plant. This position works 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday with rotating on-call weekends and holidays. This work involves a variety of light maintenance duties.
- Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
- Diagnoses operating problems and performs necessary corrective action during work shift
- Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
- Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
- Mechanical ability: Demonstrates aptitude and competence in a broad range of trade skills through the use of hand tools, power tools, and the operation of equipment.
- Problem Solver: Demonstrates ability to use basic math skills and practical thinking to solve unique problems which may not have been encountered in the past. Looks for innovative solutions and has the confidence to present ideas to the rest of the team.
- Adaptable: Demonstrates flexibility in the face of change, projects a positive demeanor regardless of changes in working conditions, and shows the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities without loss of composure.
- Self-Motivated: Able to independently, proactively and creatively seek solutions that meet the needs of the customer. Takes initiative and sees a project through to completion.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Good computer and mathematics skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Possession of a CDL is preferred or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools and sewer cleaning equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Work is performed inside and outside the water and wastewater treatment facilities and at remote lift stations, with exposure to a variety of weather and working conditions. Required to use light hand tools and heavy power tools. Must be able to occasionally lift loads up to 100 pounds unassisted. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, crawl, sit, twist, turn, and climb ladders.
Salary compensation is dependent upon qualifications. The Municipality has fringe benefits and WI Retirement pension plan.
