Sanitation Truck and Public Works Laborer

Position Information:

The Village of Barboursville is seeking an energetic and hard-working individual to join the Sanitation Trash Truck team as part of the Public Works Department.

Position Responsibilities:

· Daily residential and commercial trash and refuse pickup along a designated route within the Village.

· Picking up and recording Extra Hauls and maintaining accurate documentation of such.

· Performing daily maintenance, operations, and clean outs of the truck.

· Following all instructions and assignments, as assigned by supervisor

· Reports issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants must pass a drug-screening and background check before start of employment and must have a valid driver’s license.

Education & Experience:

Applicants must provide a current resume or completed application. Three or more references are required, as well. Experience working outside and in adverse conditions is preferred, but not required.

Requirements & Skills:

· Must be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions, sometimes extreme.

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing and walking for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of 50-75 pounds, etc.).

· Willing to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

· Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.

· Must be able to work as part of a team, as well as independently, when required.

· Must have a strong commitment to safety, and following rules.

Work Environment:

This position requires working outside in all types of weather. Successful applicants must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just in extreme weather but in enclosed spaces as well.

Starting Salary:

$16/hour, plus benefits
