Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to uphold community standards and ensure compliance with local regulations. In this vital role, you will investigate code violations, conduct inspections, and collaborate with residents and businesses to promote safe, healthy, and well-maintained neighborhoods.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of properties, buildings, and public spaces to identify code violations related to zoning, building safety, health regulations, and environmental standards.
- Investigate complaints from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders regarding potential violations or unsafe conditions.
- Issue notices of violation and follow up with property owners or responsible parties to facilitate corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspections, violations, follow-up actions, and compliance status.
- Maintain accurate records of enforcement activities and generate regulatory reports as required for oversight agencies.
- Educate the public on relevant codes, regulations, and best practices to promote voluntary compliance and community safety.
- Review permit applications, conduct various construction inspections, and conduct fire and property maintenance inspections
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction inspection, code enforcement, or a related field demonstrating strong knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and public health standards.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to produce clear documentation of inspections and violations.
- Strong compliance management skills to oversee corrective actions effectively.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and communicate them clearly to diverse audiences.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel within the jurisdiction for inspections.
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
