Utility/Public Works Operator – The Village of Amherst (pop. 1,119) is seeking applicants for the Utility/Public Works Operator position. Candidates should be self-motivated, mechanically inclined, able to learn various aspects of municipal operations, keep accurate records, prepare required paperwork and have the ability to interact with the public. Computer skills are necessary. Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a CDL license, Grade 1 wastewater license with activated sludge, disinfection & laboratory, as well as a Grade 1 water license with groundwater & distribution. Ideally, the employee will live within 30 minutes of the Village limits.
Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience, with wages starting at $23/hour with advances in pay with each certification. Benefits include paid sick leave, paid vacation and holidays, enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System and health insurance.
