Duties
- Work with our current sewing teaching staff to integrate into the position and catch the vibe of the creative workspace.
- Lead engaging classroom sessions that introduce fundamental sewing techniques, pattern making, fabric selection, and build on already learned skills.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive learning environment for children and adults alike.
- Provide personalized tutoring and guidance to students, helping them troubleshoot projects, problem solve sewing machine challenges, and improve their craftsmanship.
- Incorporate creative projects such as costume design, quilting, or fashion show preparation, to inspire students’ artistic expression.
- Maintain organized lesson plans, supplies inventory, and classroom safety standards and orderliness to ensure smooth class operations.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, or adult learners to track progress and celebrate achievements in sewing mastery.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sewing, pattern making, or textile arts with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Background in curriculum development and lesson planning for diverse age groups and skill levels (appreciated but not required).
- Excellent teaching skills with the ability to motivate and engage students of all ages, including children, preschoolers, and adults.
- Great people skills and knowledge of how to motivate and inspire.
- Familiarity with working with children, early childhood education principles, (not required but a bonus)
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining supplies, lesson materials, and student records.
- Additional skills in photography, music, art, or other creative disciplines are a plus for integrating interdisciplinary projects into classes.
