What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at VILLAGE BAPTIST CHURCH?
Title: Summer Camp Counselor
Reports to: Summer Camp Directors
Summary:
- The role of the counselor at summer camp is to provide a nurturing, enriching, and Christ-centered environment where campers can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and experience the transformative power of faith in their lives.
Human Resources:
- Counselors must commit to working the months of June and July with time off upon request to camp directors.
- Counselors are given 4 to 8 hour shifts per day and may not exceed 40 hours per week.
- Summer Camp operates from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Monitor Campers at all times.
- Assist and monitor campers during free play or centers (playdough, Legos, crafts)
- Take campers to the restrooms and outside time
- Monitor campers during and after lunch
- Plan games and activities during Gym Time
- Able to use positive behavior management techniques
Qualifications:
- Counselors must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They should be able to articulate their faith and demonstrate commitment to living out Christian principals in their daily lives.
- Minimum working age per NC Law.
- Must have experience with working with school age children.
- Experience in leading crafts, games and daily devotions.
- Counselors should be team players that are willing to collaborate with other counselors to create a positive camp environment.
