REPORTS TO: Resident Care Director

DEPARMENT: Resident Care

FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt

LANGUAGE: Ability to read, write and speak English

LOCATION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Personal Care Aide is to assist residents who are

functionally, physically, and/or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight. Under the

supervision of the RCD the Personal Care Aide's role is to assist residents with those

activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, always fostering

residents' independence and freedom of choice.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant-CNA, Home Health Aide-HHA, or Personal Care Aide-PCA certification preferred or as required by state law.
  • One year working in a care giving capacity preferred.
  • Successfully completion of all trainings as required by state regulations.
  • Obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly Required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents' rights.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, positioning, transfer, mobility, and incontinence care.
  • Maintain and document proper records of care.
  • Immediately report any changes in resident's condition to the supervisor: evidence of illness, changes in behavior, personal care needs not being met, medication issues, residents' whereabouts unknown etc.
  • Since we must be staffed 24 hours per day, it may be necessary to change hours and/or days of assignment to meet the needs of our residents. We retain the right to change your work schedule as necessary, which may require mandated shifts at times.
  • Promote and encourage residents to participate in community activities.
  • Work as a team with dining services department to assist residents with the dining experience as needed.
  • Work as a team with activity department to assist residents with the activity experience as needed.
  • Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (Visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents' families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors, and regulators).
  • Collect, laundry, and distribute linens, garments, etc. in accordance with Community procedures.
  • Assist in cleaning resident rooms, dining areas, public areas.
  • Monitor the phone, front door, call and alarm systems and respond promptly.
  • Understand and follow all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in fire safety and disaster preparedness drills.
  • Report all incidents, accidents, unsafe, hazardous conditions, and equipment immediately to supervisor.
  • May assist with and document medications, following accepted practices, and in accordance with State regulations under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
  • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings.
  • Be responsible for your own safety having understanding and complying with all Willow Ridge safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining an awareness of safety hazards and unsafe practices and reporting them immediately to the appropriate supervisors when identified.
  • Actively participate in any injury/accident investigation applicable to your position.
  • Be a member of, on a rotating basis, on the community's Safety Committee that include attending meetings and participating in reviewing community safety compliance and reviewing injury and accident investigations.
  • Participate in annual safety training in-services.
  • Performs all other duties as needed or requested by supervisor.

LEADERSHIP:

  • Plans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor.
  • Use independent judgment to solve Less obvious problems within regulating agency and WRSL policies and procedures
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain flexible work schedule to be available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Follow Willow Ridge Senior Living policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIRMENTS:

  • Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Additional physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting and generally all movement associated with resident care.
  • Must be in full compliance with all regulatory required vaccinations (including COVID-19, MMR, etc).

OSHA CLASSIFICATIONS:

  • Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogen exposure to Latex, possible exposure to various drugs, chemicals, infectious or biological hazards.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
