What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Villa Maria School?
Villa Maria School, a K–8 independent school serving students with language-based learning differences, is seeking a part-time School Nurse to join our community Mondays and Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining student health records and required immunization documentation
- Administering medications and providing first aid as needed
- Monitoring Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs)
- Assessing student illness and communicating with families as needed
- Ensuring compliance with state health regulations and infectious disease protocols
- Supporting students with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, and severe allergies
- Teaching Health classes
- Providing guidance to faculty and staff on medication administration (including EpiPens)
- Attending field trips when nursing support is required
Qualifications
- Current Connecticut RN or LPN license
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience preferred
- Prior school nursing experience strongly preferred
