Quality Assurance Technician (2nd Shift)

The Quality Assurance Technician reports directly to the Quality Manager, you will assist with activities which support the food safety and quality assurance efforts of Villa Dolce Gelato, LLC., including analyzing raw materials and finished products, monitoring processes, and inspecting equipment to make sure they meet regulatory, customer and internal standards for food safety and quality. You will usually work on the floor of the manufacturing plant, with time in a small lab.

Responsibilities

· Conduct routine and non-routine sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products against regulatory, customer and internal product safety and quality specifications

· Monitors and insures pre-operational and in-process product safety and quality according to the company’s HACCP, SSOP and SOP programs.

· Performs sensory and analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment.

· Experience with in-house microbiological testing a plus.

· Collects and records results of sampling and testing; work directly with 3rd party lab.

· Assist in updating and maintaining food safety and quality documents including policies, procedures, and records.

· Aids Operations/QA Manager in ongoing activities of the food safety program

· Other duties/tasks assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP and Safe Quality Food program (SQF) strongly recommended.
• Be willing to work longer days during our end of year, seasonal busy season and for special projects.
• Stop production and notify management of any Food Safety or Quality issues.

Education Requirements

· High school diploma or GED

Working Conditions

· Common for a production manufacturing environment

· PPE Required

· Ability to stand for long periods of time.

· Working with and around moving equipment

· Ability to tolerate normal warehouse conditions as needed.

· Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.

· Ability work in a loud environment

· Ability to work in shared space.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• 8-hour schedule
• Overtime as needed.
• Nights and/or weekends, as needed.
