Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities and events tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including social gatherings, recreational outings, and therapeutic programs with the guidance of our activities director.
- Assist with the development of activity schedules that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical wellness
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interactions, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of community
- Support residents with activities, ensuring comfort and independence during participation
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and report on program outcomes
- Coordinate resident events by managing logistics, supplies, and volunteer involvement to ensure smooth execution
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care within assisted living or nursing home settings
- Strong knowledge of the geriatric population and how to manage their varying needs such as dementia support.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to develop innovative programs that promote socialization and mental well-being for seniors
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is a plus
- Skilled in building resident rapport through compassionate caregiving and active listening
- Demonstrated leadership in team settings with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles related to senior living communities
