The successful candidate should demonstrate capacity in both technical and soft skills, a bias towards action, sound decision making, and integrity in their dealings with stakeholders and delivery partners.
Responsibilities
Planning and Execution
- Manage project development from initiation to closure.
- Maintain a project schedule to identify and define critical milestones and activities necessary to achieve.
- Ensure alignment of project scope with business objectives and product strategy.
- Work with project sponsor, stakeholders, and departmental team leaders to complete NPD Tollgate deliverables including business case, commercialization plan, scope, design and technical solutions.
- Be accountable for project results along with project sponsor.
- Act as a mediator between stakeholders and team members through diplomacy and negotiation.
- Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders and holding members accountable.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
- Tactfully navigate the product development team balancing the product requirements of commercialization, marketing, visual brand identity, technical functions and features, quality assurance, safety, service and manufacturability.
- Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle by managing risks, scope changes, and resourcing needs.
- Determine if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete project plan. If required, recruit and manage appropriate staffing resources.
- Interface with vendors and procurement team to eliminate gaps and communicating needs critical to the success of the product.
- Determine how results will be measured throughout the project and complete a post-project evaluation to determine how well results were achieved.
- Contribute to the enhancement of tools and best practices of the PMO.
- Safely crash unsuccessful or re-prioritized projects.
- Ensure all project documents are safely archived following project completion.
- Education/Experience: University degree or college diploma in business or engineering; 5 years work experience in project and/or marketing management; PMI Certification is a major asset.
- Track record of successful leadership of investment and high stakes capital-intensive efforts demonstrating capabilities of strategic, operational, and technical management skills.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in software tools such as or like: Engineering/PLM: 3DExperience, Smarteam - ENOVIA; Enterprise: Oracle EBS, Infor; Collaboration/Analytical: Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams; Project Management: Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, Etc.
- Knowledge of Bill of Material, Product Costing, and Engineering Change Management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing inter-dependency, navigating complexity, balancing multiple concurrent developments, and maintaining order and motivation through informal authority and influential means.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management, stakeholders, and contributing departments in a matrix organization. Organizational agility is a must.
- Business acumen; specifically in drivers of cost and value creation in product development.
- Preferred industry experience in domestic consumer or commercial appliances.
- T-shaped skillset; proficient in both depth of project management/development and cross-disciplinary breadth to enhance collaboration, foster innovation, and problem-solving across domains.
