What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Viking Plastics?
SUMMARY: This position has responsibilities to maintain and improve plastics manufacturing equipment and facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Repair, perform preventative maintenance, trouble-shoot injection molding and other types of machines.
- Repair, perform preventative maintenance on facility.
- Order supplies as directed by department.
- Work with other departments to ensure all equipment is in condition to meet customer production requests.
- Maintain work areas in professional manner.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Must have current driver’s license and good driving record
- Must demonstrate good communication skills in both verbal and written form.
- Must be familiar with electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
- Must demonstrate good knowledge of basic mathematics, measuring practices and working knowledge of test equipment.
- Must have reliable transportation and communication means.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and call-in.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent with minimum of two years of electro-mechanical Training /experience in a production/plant environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to lift 70lbs without assistance on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, walk, push, pull, and climb.
- Good sight and hearing required.
- Must be able to work with and around chemicals/solvents.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
- Must be able to work in closed-in areas.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment and elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, and chemicals.
