Experienced Mechanical Service Technician

$28 per hour depending on experience

Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Little to No Weekend Work | Occasional Overnight Travel

Viking Equipment has been one of Southern New England's leading providers of automotive shop equipment installation and service for more than 25 years. We serve automotive dealerships, repair facilities, municipalities, and commercial fleets throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Experienced Mechanical Service Technician to join our team.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a skilled technician who can solve mechanical problems, communicate professionally with customers, and work independently with minimal supervision.

What You'll Do

• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain automotive shop equipment
• Install compressed air piping and oil distribution piping systems
• Service vehicle lifts, air compressors, lubrication equipment, and fluid handling systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
• Perform preventative maintenance and annual inspections
• Read and interpret service manuals, installation instructions, and parts breakdowns
• Complete service reports and communicate professionally with customers
• Work independently and manage daily assignments

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a mechanic, field service technician, industrial maintenance technician, electrician, HVAC technician, construction mechanic, or similar trade
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to read and understand service manuals, installation instructions, and parts breakdowns
• Ability to read and work with wiring diagrams is a plus
• Solid customer communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Must provide your own basic hand tools
• Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual labor throughout the day
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and occasionally move heavier items with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment
• Ability to climb ladders, work overhead, kneel, crouch, and work on your feet for extended periods

Schedule & Travel

• Typical schedule is 40-50 hours per week, including overtime opportunities
• Little to no weekend work
• Occasional overnight travel may be required
• Stable, year-round employment
