Responsibilities
Develop and maintain high-quality documentation, including:
- User manuals and installation guides
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic documentation
- Service and maintenance procedures
- Knowledge base articles and FAQs
- Create training-oriented content that combines foundational documentation with real-world applications and use cases
- Independently gather technical information through interviews, observation, and review of engineering materials (specs, logs, system outputs)
- Partner with engineering teams to validate content while minimizing impact on their time
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable instructions for end users and field/service teams
- Structure and organize documentation for usability, searchability, and quick reference in field environments
- Collaborate with customer support and field service teams to identify documentation gaps and continuously improve content
- Maintain documentation standards, templates, and style consistency
- Proactively update documentation based on product changes, field feedback, and support trends
- Contribute to improving documentation workflows, tools, and processes
- 3 years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or a related role
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
- Demonstrated experience creating user-facing documentation (manuals, guides, troubleshooting content)
- Technical aptitude and comfort working with engineering teams and technical subject matter
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience documenting hardware products, technical systems, or integrated hardware/software solutions
- Experience working in an engineering-led or product development environment
- Familiarity with documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Notion, or similar)
- Experience with structured authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Paligo, or similar) a plus
- Understanding of service workflows, field operations, or customer support environments
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Technical specifications, logs, or system outputs
- CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, Onshape) for documentation and visuals
- Basic electrical schematics or wiring diagrams
