- Three intern positions ranging from 15-20 hours per week.
- Around 10 weeks from late May - August. Time will be split between program prep and programming.
- An exception would be 40 hours for the week of the Vigo County Fair (July 11th-18th). And likely additional hours the week prior for fair set up and preparations
- Assist the county Extension office/county 4-H professional in professional functions and duties.
- Support 4-H professionals, volunteers, and members in conducting meaningful educational experiences to help youth grow and reach their fullest potential.
- Inform and encourage members, parents, and other volunteers to actively participate in appropriate 4-H opportunities
- Review curriculum and prepare for all sessions.
- Work in a professional team atmosphere associated with educational program development and delivery.
- Work with a diverse (age, gender, economic class, ethnic) audience at the community level.
- Become familiar with county Extension office procedures, responsibilities, and staff.
- Develop skills in time management, prioritizing, and acceptance of responsibilities.
- Participate in a high performing system where staff and community volunteers work closely together to achieve common goals.
- Participate in a network that will provide a variety of experiences, mentoring, feedback, and clear communications throughout the internship.
- Contact and partner with other youth serving organizations to organize and implement 4-H programming.
- Prepare and schedule extra youth activities at the 4-H Fair.
- Participate and develop programming for Camp RAVE.
- Design, schedule, advertise and implement 4-H Mini Camp.
- Must undergo and pass the Purdue University 4-H volunteer application and screening process.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an operable vehicle.
- Must have completed one semester of college, and remain enrolled or employed in an education related field.
- A willingness to become familiar with and work within the philosophy and guidelines of the Purdue University Extension, State 4-H Program, and County 4-H Program.
- A sincere interest in teaching and sharing knowledge and skills with youth and adults in an educational setting.
- The ability to organize information and materials and delegate responsibility.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision from professional staff.
- A sincere interest in working with other volunteers and professional staff in an educational setting.
