Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to support a highly regulated healthcare environment. The RSO will provide professional radiation safety oversight and compliance support in alignment with applicable federal regulations and industry standards.
This position is suited for an experienced radiation safety professional capable of operating independently in a structured, compliance-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide radiation safety oversight and technical support within a regulated environment
- Support compliance with applicable federal and industry radiation protection standards
- Conduct routine monitoring, reviews, and documentation activities
- Support inspections, audits, and regulatory readiness efforts
- Serve as a technical resource for radiation safety and protection matters
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Physics, Radiological Science, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
- Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in radiation safety, health physics, or radiological regulatory compliance
- Experience supporting a regulated environment (e.g., healthcare, research, academic medical center, or federal setting)
- Working knowledge of radiation protection principles, monitoring practices, and compliance requirements
- Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC
- Ability to successfully pass federal background screening and obtain site access credentials
- U.S.-based work authorization
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Health Physicist (CHP) or other recognized radiation safety or RSO-related credential
- Experience supporting audits, inspections, training programs, or exposure monitoring initiatives
- Prior experience in a federal or healthcare-focused organization
Compliance & Work Environment
- Work is performed onsite in a regulated facility; remote or hybrid work is not available
- Additional credentialing and badging may be required prior to start
- Position may include multi-year continuation subject to performance and funding
