SQL Server DBA (Azure)

Skill : Senior SQL Server DBA (with Azure)

Location : 100% Remote

Duration : Full-time/ Direct-Hire

Should be Green Card and U.S. Citizen only

Required skills:

• 7–10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, with hands-on experience in production environments.
• Strong experience in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and Azure SQL technologies.
• Experience supporting 24×7 production environments, incident management, change management, and on-call support.

SQL Server DBA Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances.
• Perform SQL Server database administration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Manage database backups and restores
• Configure and manage Always on Availability Groups
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server clustering/Windows Failover Clustering.
• Perform SQL Server performance tuning and optimization using DMVs, execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, Profiler, etc.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, operators, maintenance plans, and scheduled tasks.
• Configure and troubleshoot Database Mail, linked servers, credentials, proxies, endpoints, and SPNs.
• Manage All SQL Server security
• Manage Transactional Replication, Snapshot Replication, and replication agents.
• Perform database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, detach/attach, backup/restore and cross-server database movement.
• Troubleshoot SSIS/SSRS/SQL connectivity and provider/driver-related issues.
• Perform capacity planning, disk-space management, database growth analysis, and storage optimization.
• Participate in SQL Server patching, vulnerability remediation, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare RCA documents and support critical production incidents.

Azure DBA Responsibilities:

• Administer and support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Manage Azure SQL Managed Instance environments, including databases, security, connectivity, monitoring, backup/restore, and HA/DR.
• Perform SQL Server-to-Azure migrations using appropriate migration approaches and tools.
• Manage Azure SQL security Microsoft Entra users/groups, SQL logins/users, TDE and encryption, Azure Storage Accounts
• Microsoft Entra authentication and authorization experience is important for Azure SQL environments.
• Monitor Azure SQL performance using Azure Monitor, Query Store, DMVs, alerts, and diagnostic logs.
• Work with Azure Backup, automated backups, point-in-time restore, and long-term retention where applicable.
• Support Azure SQL MI HA/DR and failover scenarios.
• Use Azure Portal, Azure CLI and PowerShell for administration and automation. Azure SQL MI supports management through Portal, PowerShell, Azure CLI, REST APIs, and T-SQL.
• Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, Azure CLI, and SQL Agent.
• Support cloud migration, modernization, and SQL Server workload optimization.
