Viewpoint School is currently seeking a Teacher of Second Grade. The Teacher of Second Grade is responsible for creating and maintaining a dynamic, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for Second Grade students. This role supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of each child through thoughtful planning, differentiated instruction, and the integration of current pedagogy and best practices in education. The teacher serves as a collaborative team member, contributing to a cohesive and forward-thinking Primary School program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare classroom environments and instructional materials to support daily learning experiences
  • Plan and implement a balanced program of instruction, including direct teaching, guided practice, inquiry-based learning, and independent work
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs, interests, and learning styles of students
  • Establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these effectively to students
  • Instruct students both individually and in small and whole group settings using a variety of instructional strategies
  • Assess and monitor student progress through observation, formative assessments, and ongoing evaluation
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources that encourage exploration, creativity, and imaginative play
  • Foster a positive classroom community that promotes respect, collaboration, and student engagement

Collaboration and Professional Practice

  • Serve as an active and collaborative member of grade-level teams and professional learning communities (PLCs)
  • Partner with colleagues and administrators in the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Primary School program
  • Integrate current research, pedagogy, and best practices into instructional planning and delivery
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and needs
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, conferences, and workshops to maintain and enhance professional growth

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (teaching credential and master’s degree preferred)
  • Lead teaching experience at the elementary level (minimum three years preferred)
  • Strong understanding of child development and early elementary instructional practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues

Compensation: Anticipated compensation is $65,000 - $85,000 depending on experience
