Role Description The Manager Live Streaming Technician is a contract, on-site role based in New York, NY. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end live streaming operations, including technical setup, configuration, and monitoring of live events across multiple platforms and devices. The manager will coordinate with production, engineering, and client teams to plan live streams, conduct pre-event testing, manage signal flow, and troubleshoot issues in real time to maintain high-quality delivery. Daily responsibilities include managing encoding workflows, ensuring proper integration with CDNs and OTT platforms, implementing backup and failover strategies, and maintaining detailed event logs and post-event reports. The role also involves refining live streaming best practices, contributing to workflow documentation, mentoring junior technicians, and collaborating on continuous improvement of live streaming tools and processes.
Qualifications
- Strong live streaming operations skills, including experience with encoders, transcoders, CDNs, OTT platforms, and multi-device delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot audio/video, network, and signal-flow issues under time-sensitive, live event conditions.
- Hands-on experience with streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH, RTMP), latency management, and adaptive bitrate workflows.
- Experience coordinating with production, engineering, and client stakeholders for live event planning, testing, and execution.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools, real-time analytics dashboards, and quality assurance processes for live and VOD streams.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining runbooks, event logs, and post-event performance summaries.
- Proven leadership or team lead experience, with the ability to mentor technicians and manage coverage during high-volume event schedules.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm, clear, and solutions-focused in live production environments.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support live events.
Compensation= $75K-$100K/year
