POSITION SUMMARY

 

Vietnamese American Services (VAS) is seeking a highly organized, experienced, and operationally driven Food Service Operations Manager to oversee food service operations, kitchen coordination, food safety compliance, inventory management, and overall dining service quality within the Adult Medical Day Care (ADC) program.

 

This position is responsible for ensuring that food service operations consistently meet organizational standards, healthcare operational requirements, sanitation regulations, and participant service expectations. The Food Service Operations Manager will oversee kitchen workflow, coordinate with kitchen and receiving staff, monitor food safety and compliance procedures, support operational efficiency, and promote a safe, respectful, and participant-centered dining environment.

 

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership capabilities, operational management experience, knowledge of food safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural nonprofit healthcare environment serving seniors and underserved communities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Food Service Operations Oversight

·      Oversee and monitor daily kitchen and food service operations for the Adult Medical Day Care program.

·      Ensure meals are prepared, handled, and served in a timely, safe, organized, and professional manner.

·      Coordinate workflow and communication between kitchen staff, caregivers, ADC staff, and management teams.

·      Support operational scheduling, kitchen coordination, and food service efficiency.

·      Monitor kitchen productivity, operational readiness, cleanliness, and overall workflow performance.

·      Ensure proper use, maintenance, and operational condition of kitchen equipment and food service areas.

2) Food Safety, Sanitation & Compliance Management

·      Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations and Adult Medical Day Care operational requirements.

·      Monitor adherence to sanitation standards, food handling procedures, hygiene practices, storage regulations, and temperature control requirements.

·      Conduct routine kitchen inspections, sanitation checks, and compliance audits.

·      Maintain readiness for internal reviews, inspections, licensing visits, and regulatory audits.

·      Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans related to compliance concerns or operational deficiencies.

·      Investigate food safety incidents, operational concerns, or participant complaints and document findings appropriately.

·      Stay updated on food safety regulations, HACCP principles, sanitation laws, and industry best practices.

3) Food Service & Menu Coordination

·      Support monitoring and implementation of meal planning and food service operations.

·      Ensure meals meet operational standards, dietary considerations, participant needs, and program schedules.

·      Coordinate with ADC leadership and kitchen staff regarding meal quality, service consistency, and participant satisfaction.

·      Assist with implementation and execution of approved menus and meal service procedures.

4) Inventory & Supply Management

·      Monitor inventory levels for food, kitchen supplies, sanitation materials, and operational equipment.

·      Ensure proper storage, labeling, organization, rotation, and expiration date compliance for food and supplies.

·      Coordinate purchasing requests and supply replenishment with management as needed.

·      Support inventory tracking, cost control efforts, and waste reduction initiatives.

5) Documentation & Reporting

·      Maintain accurate records related to temperature logs, cleaning schedules, inspections, inventory, incidents, sanitation monitoring, and compliance documentation.

·      Prepare operational and compliance reports for ADC leadership and management.

·      Support documentation preparation for licensing reviews, inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting.

·      Ensure confidentiality and proper management of operational records and reports.

6) Staff Training & Team Support

·      Train and support kitchen staff regarding food safety standards, sanitation procedures, workplace safety, and operational protocols.

·      Monitor staff adherence to organizational procedures and kitchen compliance standards.

·      Promote accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and operational consistency within the kitchen environment.

·      Provide operational guidance and support to kitchen personnel and food service support staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

·      High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in food service management, hospitality, healthcare operations, nutrition, or related fields preferred.

·      Previous experience in kitchen operations, food service supervision, Adult Day Care, healthcare food services, hospitality, or compliance management preferred.

·      Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, sanitation standards, and kitchen operational procedures.

·      Strong understanding of menu planning implementation and food service coordination.

·      Excellent organizational, documentation, and operational management skills.

·      Strong leadership, communication, and staff training abilities.

·      Ability to work effectively in fast-paced kitchen and healthcare service environments.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance tracking/documentation systems preferred.

·      Bilingual English/Vietnamese preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

·      Work is performed primarily in commercial kitchen and food production environments within the Adult Medical Day Care Center.

·      Position may require standing for extended periods, walking frequently, bending, lifting, and supporting kitchen operational activities as needed.

·      Occasional lifting and movement of kitchen supplies, food inventory, or operational equipment may be required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS


1.      Salary Range: $35,000 – $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and operational expertise.

2.      Employment Type: Full-time
