Position: Porter / Maintenance Helper
Job Type: Part Time - Weekends and Evenings
The Porter / Maintenance Helper at Vierra Falls Church Vierra Health & Rehabilitation plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. This position supports both housekeeping and maintenance departments by performing routine cleaning duties, assisting with basic repairs, and helping ensure the facility is well-maintained and operating smoothly.
Work Environment:
This position involves working both indoors and outdoors and may include exposure to various weather conditions. It requires physical activity throughout the shift, including use of cleaning and maintenance tools and equipment

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of resident rooms, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and entrances.
- Maintain floors and carpets using proper cleaning methods and equipment.
- Remove trash and recyclables from designated areas and dispose of them appropriately.
- Assist with minor maintenance and repair tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks, and light patching/painting.
- Set up and adjust side rails, phones, and other in-room equipment for resident comfort and safety.
- Program and troubleshoot televisions and remote controls in resident rooms.
- Read, understand, and complete maintenance and housekeeping work tickets accurately and in a timely manner.
- Help prepare rooms for new residents by assisting with cleaning, furniture arrangement, and minor setup.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of exterior areas, including walkways and entrances.
- Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors when restocking is needed.
- Respond to service requests courteously and efficiently.
- Promptly report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Follow all safety procedures, infection control protocols, and facility policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, or housekeeping roles is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic mechanical and technical skills, including the ability to set up and troubleshoot TVs, remotes, and phones.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety guidelines, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, walking, and reaching throughout the shift.
