What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator position at Vidya Brands Group LLC?
Reporting to the Pressroom Supervisor, the 1st Pressman is responsible for the operation of an offset printing press.
Responsibilities and Accountability
- Set up, operation and maintenance of the printing press
- Perform make ready operations efficiently as possible to achieve efficient workflow
- Perform visual and instrumental inspections during press run to maintain color and quality
- Identify and remove any defective sheets
- Run press at acceptable speeds to achieve productivity and quality goals
- Alert supervisor of any problems with equipment, materials, or quality issues
- Perform all required quality sign offs
- Ability to mix inks when necessary
- Adhere to all ISO / SQF / HACCP personnel GMP practices, conduct and safety policies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years 1st pressman experience; and manufacturing experience
- Good color vision
- Ability to direct press crew
- Working technical knowledge of all phases of a printing press
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills
