Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. In this vital role, you will drive the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management processes to ensure seamless supply chain operations. Your expertise will help optimize procurement strategies, negotiate favorable contracts, and maintain strong supplier relationships.

First of three levels of professional purchasing. The job typically requires an associate's or bachelor’s degree in business, or equivalent. Under supervision of a
purchasing manager and/or with direction from senior purchasing staff, performs purchasing duties of limited scope and authority. Prepares bid specifications,
receive bids and make purchases of commodities or goods where the financial impact is limited. May work directly in support of line operations and in collaboration
with department managers, engineers or operations staff. Materials or equipment purchased are processed, consumed or used in the organization and are not
purchased for direct resale; this is not a merchandising buyer. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, leveraging advanced ERP systems to support production planning, merchandising, and logistics functions. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to identify reliable suppliers and secure competitive pricing for materials and products.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes using ERP systems such a ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, m 9to ensure timely purchase orders and accurate inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production planning, merchandising, logistics, and inventory management to align procurement activities with business needs.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with vendors to maximize value while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance through regular evaluations and manage supplier relationships to foster ongoing partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and procurement activities in ERP systems for audit compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Oversee inventory control procedures to prevent stockouts or excess stock, utilizing MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tools for demand forecasting.
  • Coordinate logistics and transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of goods while optimizing costs.

  • Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and stay updated on industry trends in materials management, pricing strategies, and supply chain innovations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist within a manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP (SAP ERP), JD Edwards is essential.
  • Strong understanding of materials management, inventory control, MRP systems, and supply chain management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in purchasing negotiations and contract management to secure favorable terms.
  • Familiarity with sourcing strategies across diverse categories including logistics, production planning, merchandising, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data related to pricing trends, inventory levels, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Effective communication skills for negotiating with vendors and collaborating across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
