The Student Ministry Coordinator plays a key leadership role in shaping the relational and discipleship environments of our student ministries (High School and Middle School). In this position 80% of the role is focused on leading through others—primarily by overseeing, equipping, and empowering high-capacity volunteers. The role ensures that students are connected, discipled, and cared for through effective systems and spirit-led leadership.
This leader drives the vision by building strong teams, maintaining a high standard of excellence, and fostering a culture of ownership among volunteers. The coordinator is responsible for oversight of student connection, discipleship pathways, volunteer development, and invite team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership Through Equipping (Ephesians 4:12 Model) All staff members are expected to lead with a posture of equipping—training others for the work of ministry. This role models and multiplies leadership by empowering high-level volunteers to carry out ministry effectively.

Lead the structure and execution of all students small groups, through high-capacity lead volunteers.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development of volunteer small group leaders
Provide curriculum, training materials, and weekly resources to small group leaders
Monitor group health, spiritual engagement, and group attendance.
Manage group assignments, transitions, and updates across semesters
Maintain accurate records in Ministry Platform
Drive ongoing development through our leadership pipeline.

Plan and execute, a connection-based event through high level volunteers
Ondeck: Guest Experience and Safety (High & Middle School)

Maintain operational excellence and volunteer engagement across teams

Create and manage a structured schedule and clear goals for summer internships
Mentor and develop student interns in leadership, spiritual maturity, and ministry skills
Plan intern events and provide consistent supervision and feedback
The Core/Discipleship
We want to build up our “core” in Student ministries. We will offer specialized spiritual development and leadership development to hand selected students who show the desire, have capacity, and are committed to their development.
This position will spearhead this and work through high level leaders to accomplish.
Oversee through leaders, weekly discipleship groups across all campuses
Ensure alignment of curriculum, spiritual goals, and leadership development.
Develop or adapt meaningful content to promote spiritual growth and application
Curate resources such as videos, classes, books, and small groups to promote ongoing discipleship and development for students
Track student engagement and spiritual progress; coach leaders accordingly
Next Steps Pathway
Design and implement clear discipleship pathways for students (baptism, devotional life, serving, giving, etc.)
Track, support, and celebrate spiritual milestones and student next steps

Submit digital and creative requests in a timely and organized manner

Identify, equip, and empower students to lead an outreach club at their school.
Create pathways for those new students to attend Sozo from the outreach clubs.
Connect with principals at the schools we are on to discover how we can serve their school and students.

Identify and discover ways to engage new students through sports.

Plan and lead two regional youth pastor gatherings per year
