Victory Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated, Christ-centered leader to serve as our Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach. The ideal candidate is someone who balances a passion for competitive excellence with a heart for discipleship, ensuring our student-athletes grow both on the court and in their walk with Christ.
Mission & Philosophy
As a representative of Jesus Christ and VCA, the Head Coach is expected to lead by example. You will be responsible for fostering an environment of dignity and respect toward officials, parents, players, and opponents. Our goal is to develop athletes who work hard, display positive attitudes, and support the VCA athletic program as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Discipleship
- Model Christian character in all venues associated with the team and school.
- Follow the principles of Matthew 18 for conflict resolution, addressing concerns directly and following the proper chain of command.
- Support all VCA athletic programs by encouraging multi-sport participation and attending other VCA sporting events.
On-Court Development
- Prepare and lead high-quality practices with age-appropriate, progressive drills.
- Strive to develop every player to their full potential.
- Manage playing time fairly: while not every player will play every game, you will prioritize opportunities for athletes who display hard work, academic responsibility, and a positive attitude.
Administrative & Communication
- Maintain consistent communication with school administration and parents regarding schedules, changes, and team updates.
- Manage team logistics, including the collection of all required paperwork and athletic fees before the first practice.
- Oversee the checkout and return of all team uniforms.
- Adhere to all policies outlined in the VCA Athletic and Coaches’ Handbooks.
Departmental Compliance
- Report directly to the Athletic Director (AD) regarding department policies and procedures.
- Ensure all purchases and fundraising efforts are pre-approved and funneled through the Athletic Department.
Requirements & Expectations
- Presence: Availability for all team functions, including practices, games, tournaments, meetings, fundraisers, and awards nights.
- Conduct: Maintain a positive public image; avoid negative conversations regarding VCA, fellow coaches, or the Athletic Department.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and relevant association rules.
- Spirituality: A committed follower of Christ who can integrate faith and sport seamlessly.
Note: All coaches (head, assistant, and volunteer) are collectively responsible to the Athletic Director for compliance with school and department regulations.
Pay: $1,500.00 per year
