Summer Student Worker

Pay Scale: Classified

Dates: Varies (Summers Only)

Hourly Rate: $8.25 

Primary Purpose:

Assist with daily office operations. Answer phones, file papers, guide and assist visitors, direct phone calls to the appropriate  personnel on campus.

Education/Certifications:

Student must be at least 16 years old

Have transportation to report to work

Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; imaging equipment

Posture: Frequent walking/standing/climbing/bending/stooping/kneeling, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding and use of mouse; reaching

Lifting: Occasional light-lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Greet visitors and assist with requests.
2. Answer and respond to incoming calls from the public and employees, take reliable messages and route to the appropriate staff.
3. Receive, sort and distribute mail and other documents to department staff.
4. Process requests for official district records, including maintaining log of records requests, retrieving documents, copying, and mailing records.
5. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
6. Monitor access to records and ensure proper security and confidentiality.
7. Maintain confidentiality of information.
8. Complete any other duties as assigned.
