Duties
- Manage and process patient referrals efficiently, ensuring timely approvals and follow-ups
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including insurance verification for various managed care plans
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to referrals and patient information
- Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to ensure proper billing and documentation procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate appointments and services based on referral requirements
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
- Assist with medical office tasks such as appointment scheduling, data entry, and record keeping
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues or discrepancies
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards and insurance policies relevant to referral processes
Skills
